Uranus is invested in your independence, and in you finding the most authentic expressions for your individuality. On the other hand, Uranus dares you to reach for freedom, no matter what upheaval, change or chaos you need to create on the path to liberation. Saturn attempts to do this by highlighting the value of tradition and encouraging respect for regulations and limits. Saturn’s goal is to help you create structure, security and stability. Forget routines and traditions this May you’ll need to break out your idea box, and dare yourself to stretch outside familiar habits. Which means a new, fresh or innovative approach is needed. I love it because it shows that no matter how good what you’ve done till now has been, no matter what wonderful results past patterns have brought you, to go forward you have to go differently. I first read it somewhere on the interwebs, probably in a business forum or site. The trine aspect shows there is a wonderful way forward, but with Uranus involved, newness is a must. When they join forces, a clash might be likely. They are each invested in seemingly opposing desires. Saturn and Uranus are two very different planets. The third will be in November 2017, with Saturn at 25 Sagittarius and Uranus at 25 Aries. The first Saturn trine Uranus aspect was in December 2016, with Saturn at 20 Sagittarius and Uranus at 20 Aries. May’s aspect occurs from 26 Aries to 26 Sagittarius. May 2017 brings the second in a series of enlivening trine aspects between Saturn and Uranus. May’s Featured Aspect: Saturn trine Uranus (Did you miss the 2017 edition?)īut this time last year, I was deep in 2017 themes, and it’s to those themes that I want to return now. Right now, I’m working on the 2018 horoscopes and my mind is already looking far into the future. Surprising actions may be quite destructive. Each year, before I sit down to write my long form horoscopes for the wonderful WellBeing Astrology annual, I create an astrology wheel filled with the planet movements for the year ahead. We would like to 'get busy' on Saturday but there are buried frustrations subject to sudden exposure. We try to draw 'firm conclusions' on Friday but still lack complete information. As our perspective improves we can get a better idea of where we stand in relation to those around us. There is extra tact and diplomacy on Thursday. Responsibility and humility are key to maintaining our balance. Our perspective expands a bit on Wednesday but we are still impatient with superficial explanations. We are impatient with superficial or incomplete information. There is significant frustration with the lack of clear communication on Tuesday. It will be helpful to take extra time to listen to what others are trying to say. Strong feelings aren't easy to express on Monday. We are trying to establish a more stable footing for our personal future progress. There is a feeling that our egos are on the line on Sunday and we need to convince others of something. Next week's Scorpio New Moon, will oppose Uranus, suggesting that there will be surprising new factors injected into the situation which we can't quite see from our vantage point this week. However, idealism is also increased and Mercury's initial square to Saturn creates an intense desire to 'lock in' firm conclusions - but those conclusions are subject to further adjustments. Mercury gets to Sagittarius on Thursday evening, opening up the possibility for an expanded perspective. The Mars-Uranus opposition does not encourage compromise, keeping us invested in an individual, 'my way or the highway' approach. We don't really have a broad enough perspective to understand the challenges of those around us, keeping any sort of cooperative framework essentially our of reach. But there is also increased perfectionism - another element that increases the overall frustration. Venus leaves Virgo this week, arriving in Libra with a somewhat helpful, diplomatic approach. There is a tendency to employ subtle, passive-aggressive methods when we can't quite understand how else to get our message across. Strong feelings build without easy outlets for expression. While there may be incredible opportunities in this New Territory, clear, direct communication is needed but hard to establish. Although we feel compelled to keep the pace up, there is a deep desire to look for a way to "pull over and check the map" but we don't have a map for this new terrain. Last week's Mars-Mercury conjunction has set up a new 'communication framework' but there is an element of unfamiliarity - the new landscape doesn't offer recognizable landmarks. The effect of the waning Moon (ahead of next week's Scorpio New Moon (1:27 AM PST 20° Scorpio) is actually likely to increase the frustration as we struggle to reach firm conclusions and definitive 'plans of action'. Tension and frustration builds this week, leading up to the Mars-Uranus opposition on Saturday.
